October is Cooperative Month - it is a month dedicated to creating awareness of cooperatives and their benefit across the United States. From agriculture, finance, utilities and more, over 60,000 of these entities exist - all under the same 7 Cooperative Principles - which are values co-op members can believe in.
One of the main Cooperative Principles is Concern for Community. In honor of this, Callaway Electric and Callabyte are hosting a 'Drive of 1,000' all this month. The focus is to collect food for local food pantries and collect sign-ups for Operation Roundup.
As you may know, Operation Roundup is a program that we introduced earlier this year. It is designed to do great work in the communities we serve. Callaway Electric members and Callabyte subscribers are invited to 'Round up' their monthly bills to the next highest dollar. The money collected goes through the Callaway Electric Community Foundation which accepts applications from organizations, groups and individuals for funding projects and needs in our communities. We hope to reach 1,000 sign ups for the program - and hope you will consider signing up. Learn more/sign up on our Operation Roundup page.
Our Food Collection Drive starts at our office in Fulton. Here we are working to collect 1,000 pounds of food for Serve, Inc of Callaway County. Donations of non-perishable food is being collected at our office and Callabyte will match $1/pound of food collected - up to 1,000 pounds.
In Jonesburg, non-perishable food is being collected at the City Hall and will be donated to the Reach Community Church in Montgomery City. Callabyte will match $1/pound here up to 250 pounds.
For the Hermann area, a unique opportunity is going on through the Hermann Area Food Pantry to collect Thanksgiving sides in preparation of the upcoming holiday. Donations can be made at The Fitness Source in Hermann and Callabyte will match $1/pound up to 250 pounds here as well.
Thank you to our members of Callaway Electric and subscribers of Callabyte. We appreciate your support and thank you for consideration of our 'Drive of 1,000' going on throughout October.
