Jordan Peace of North Callaway R-I and Kenny Fort of the South Callaway R-II school districts joined mid-Missouri teachers for the Missouri Electric Cooperative sponsored course, Energy in Today’s Classroom, in early August. The 2-day graduate level course is presented through the Mizzou Agriculture Systems Technology Department to provide a background in energy and energy production. More than 200 teachers have attended the program since it began in 2013.
The course covered energy basics, energy sources, power generation and transmission, electric safety, electric vehicles and included a tour of the University of Missouri’s multi-fuel power generation station.
